NATIONAL AUDIO CASSETTE

Duplication Terms & Definitions

 

n Duplication – recording of program material on cassettes.

n Imprinting – printing directly on cassette with UV ink. (song titles, band name, line art, logo)

n Laser labels – paper adhesive labels printed and affixed to cassettes.

n 3-panel J-card – standard 4″x4″ – front, spine and back panels. Printed 2-sides.(See J-card template)

n 4-panel J-card – front, spine and back panels with extra 21/2″ x 4″ fold-out panel. Printed 2-sides. (See J-card template)

n 5-panel J-card – front, spine and back panels with two(2) extra 21/2″ x 4″ fold-out panels. Printed 2-sides. (See J-card template)

n O-card – printed wrap-around card used for cassingles, etc. Cassette slides in from end, usually shrink-wrapped.

n Norelco box – hard plastic hinged box for individual cassettes.

n Over-wrap – retail style cellophane wrapped over Norelco box. Features folded, heat-sealed corners – no burned seams.

n Shrink-wrap – clear wrap sealed on 3 sides by heated seams; used for multiple cassette packaging and odd sized products.

n Imprinting film / plate set – film negatives and printing plates used in cassette imprinting. Archived with duplication master for re-orders.

n Laser label set-up – art files from which laser cassette labels are printed. Archived with duplication master for re-orders.

n Duplication master – audio master from which cassettes are duplicated on NAC high-speed production lines. Archived for re-orders.

n Dolby B Noise Reduction – used to reduce tape noise on duplicated tapes while leaving the original audio unchanged.
